International events: St. Petersburg prepares to launch Second “Korea-Russia Dialogue” Forum

On June 14, 2011 St. Petersburg State University hosted a conference of coordinating boards of the “Korea-Russia Dialogue” forum. Participants of the meeting have entered an active preparatory stage for the second forum which would bring together Russia and the Republic of Korea.

At the meeting participants determined the theme of the upcoming dialogue – “Alliance of Russia and the Republic of Korea for modernization and innovation”.

Chairmen of coordinating boards of both countries – President of Korea University Kim Byoung-Chul and rector of St. Petersburg State University N. M. Kropachev made speeches of welcome addressing all the participants of the videoconference. Chairmen introduced participants of the session from Russia and Korea.

Russia’s Coordinating Board included the Pro-rector for Academic Councils of the St. Petersburg State University K. K. Khudolei, Director General of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library A. P. Vershinin, Director of the Russian State Historical Archive A.R. Sokolov.

Videoconference enabled members of Russia’s Coordinating Board to discuss forum’s organizational issues with their Korean counterparts, representatives of science, education, culture and business sectors of the Republic of Korea.

First “Korea-Russia Dialogue” forum was held in autumn 2010. Its theme was “Knowledge society of 21st century: New partnership of the Russian Federation and Republic of Korea”.
