
Russian culture abroad: Days of Russian language and Literature in Odessa
On June 6, 2011, birthday of Alexander Pushkin, Odessa is for the first time holding the Day of Russian language and Literature as a part of the city’s “Program for Preservation and Development of Russian language in Odessa for 2011-2015”.
The program of the celebration has been prepared by departments of education and science, culture and tourism of Odessa City Council jointly with the Russian national community “Rusich”.
The events kicked off on June 4 to run until June 8 which will see literary readings and summer campaign “Reading public garden”. Odessa will hold numerous concerts, subject exhibitions and competitions which will bring together schoolchildren, students and general public.
Celebration of the Day of Russian language and Literature and Pushkin Day is opening on June 6 with the ceremony of laying flowers to the monument of the great poet in Dumskaya Square.
