World History: Conference “From War to Common Responsibility for Peace and Security in Europe” launched in Berlin

June 2-3, 2011 the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin is holding a conference “From War to Common Responsibility for Peace and Security in Europe – 70 years since the Attack of Nazi Germany on the Soviet Union”.

The conference addresses reasons and outcomes of the Nazi invasion of the USSR, after-war order in Europe, correlation of forces in the international arena after the end of the Cold War, the initiative of the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev on the European Security Treaty and changed relations between Russia and EU/Germany in the first decade of the new millennium.

The conference has been organized by the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the German-Russian Forum, the University of Kiel, the University of Göttingen etc.

The conference has brought together the Chairman of the House of Deputies of Berlin Walter Momper, President of Socio-Economic and Intellectual Programs Foundation Sergei Filatov, former director of German-Russian Museum Berlin-Karlshorst Peter Jahn, Deputy Director of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexei Gromyko, professors of leading universities of Germany, Bundestag deputies, Russian and German historians.
