Peoples of Russia: The Republic of Tuva to celebrate its 90th anniversary

The program of festivities dedicated to 90th anniversary of the Republic of Tuva was approved on July 26, 2011 at the meeting of the organizing committee with the vice-premier Anatoly Damba-Khuurak at the head.

The 90th anniversary of Tuvan People’s Republic will be celebrated from August 13 - 15, 2011. On August 12 in the village of Kochetovo, Tandinsky District, where in 1921 was passed a historical decision on foundation of the first Tuvan state, will be launched festivities that will attract guests from all corners of the republic.

The list of events features tens of cultural, educational, and sports events dedicated to the landmark date. They include the Republic Innovative Youth Forum “Tuva – territory for development”, major sports program – street basketball competition, international Khuresh wrestlers struggle.

The program of the Naadym republic festival of stockbreeders has been also prepared. Its core events will run from August 13 - 15 in Tos-Bulak in the suburb of Kyzyl. While on August 15 guests and residents of the republic will be invited to the 2nd International Felt Ware Festival, offering a wide range of produce made of felt.

Most funds appropriated from the republic’s budget for preparation and holding of mass celebrations are meant for beautification of the capital city of the republic, repair of building facades, and roads.
