IT and Education: Electronic school record books to be introduced at Moscow schools in 2012
Electronic school record books and class registers will be introduced at all schools of Moscow in 2012, announced the Head of the Moscow City Information Technologies Department Artyom Yermolaev.
From September 1, 2011 the primary education in Moscow is to move to the new federal educational standard.
"What we are planning is to provide schools with electronic class registers and record books within 2012, however an active work in this area will kick off this year", Artyom Yermolaev announced. As soon as the pupil gets the mark he learns about it either via SMS or email.
At the first stage paperback record books and class registers will remain.
City authorities also plan to streamline the meals system for pupils with introduction of special e-cards. Money available on them will be converted into points. Using these points kids will be able to buy food at the school canteen.
He added that by September 1, 2011 laptops will be provided to all teachers, while staff room will be equipped with computers.
"This year over 300 schools will receive such a complete set, in 2012 we are planning to equip at least the same number of schools", Artyom Yermolaev clarified.
In late June Moscow City Government approved “Information city for 2012-2016” public program. The program is divided into four sub-programs: "Development of ICTs for improving the quality of life in the city and ensuring favorable conditions for running business", "Creation of the smart city management system", "Shaping public information and communications environment" and "Mass Media and advertising".
