IT and Education: Kaspersky Academy to launch online lesson focused on information security

30 August 2011

On the Knowledge Day, September 1, proclaimed the All-Russian Day of Media Security at all Russian schools in 2011, Kaspersky Lab will hold a free online workshop highlighting information security within the framework of “Kaspersky Academy” project.

The lesson that will be conducted by Pyotr Volkov, Kaspersky Lab developer, will kick off at 11.30 a.m. and will run for 40 minutes. Participants of the online workshop will learn about web threats, ways of protection and behavior on the Internet. Anyone interested may take part in the workshop after the registration. Until August 31 it is necessary to fill in the form available at www.kasperskyacademy.com/ru/events.

What is more, Kaspersky Academy website has mounted a new special section that features useful methodical materials needed to prepare the lesson on information security at school. Calendar of Events section provides information on all scheduled events, which are aimed to improve computer literacy and develop skills of safe work on the Internet — online lessons, workshops for computer science teachers, addresses of experts.

“Kaspersky Lab has been for a long time cooperating with educational institutions of Russia within “Kaspersky Academy” program, and the resource, where we have been posting the materials on Internet security has existed since the very launch of the project, — says Svetlana Yefimova, Head of Educational Programs Global Development Department. — On the eve of September 1, which has been announced the All-Russian Day of Media Security on the initiative of Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Pavel Astakhov, we have decided to bring together all accumulated materials, dedicated to children’s security on the Internet, in a separate group. This will help teachers and will prove useful for all those who take an interest in protection of children on the Web”.
