History of science: Exhibition in honor of the 300th birthday anniversary of M. V. Lomonosov in Omsk

August 26, 2011 in Omsk, the M. A. Vrubel Museum of Fine Arts opens an exhibition "Chemistry and Art", timed to coincide with the International Year of Chemistry (IYC).

The exhibition is also dedicated to the 300th birthday of the great Russian scientist, first Academician of Russia – M. V. Lomonosov (November 19, 1711 - April 15, 1765), who had made a significant contribution to the development of the domestic arts and crafts. He was the creator of the production of inorganic pigments, glazes, glass, porcelain. M. V. Lomonosov developed the technology and formulations of colored glass which he used to create mosaic pictures.

A significant part of the exhibition treats with the art of ceramics and glass. The display cases feature   cups, glasses, decanters, damasks, vases, bottles XVIII-XX centuries. Other types of decorative arts also highlight the exhibition: art casting, enamel, etc. The exhibition also presents many of real "gems", for example, world-famous Omsk copy of "Danae" by Rembrandt, paintings by famous artists such as A. Lentulov, I. Mashkov, A. Yakovlev, G. Kichigin, etchings and engraving boards by N. Tretyakov.

One of the key policy objectives of the project - the issues of educating young people of the Omsk region. It is no accident that the partner of the exhibition "Chemistry and Art" is the Ministry of Education of еру Omsk region. The exhibition will end by the Junior Regional Scientific-Practical Conference in honor of the 300th anniversary of M. V. Lomonosov.
