Information technology and culture: Monument to Internet may be opened in St. Petersburg

Design-studio “Trendico” plans to set up in St. Petersburg a monument to the internet industry as a cultural and informational phenomenon. The project must combine the three functions at once: aesthetic, consumer and information.

The modern monument could be admired, it would serve as a bench, a wireless Internet access point available for everyone will be installed on it.

The object itself will consist of three letters «WWW» - an abbreviation of “WorldWideWeb” - in a rank.   August 15 a request for permission to erect the monument was sent to the Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of St. Petersburg. Art facility is scheduled to open by September 30 on Malaya Sadovaya Street.
