The State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg) has prepared a new exposition dedicated to the Russian art of 20th century. The museum has already put on display a part of the 20th century exposition - from the 1910s to 1930s.

Today a new exposition, that spans the time from the 1900s to the end of 20th century, has been prepared. It has been arranged in chronological order, key schools and names in the Russian art, depending on the number of works at the Russian Museum: the more paintings by one author are kept at the museum, the more go on display within the exposition.

“It goes without saying, that it is hardly possible to cover the time between the 1960s-1990s, all its schools and trends in three halls. The museum has decided to build a core exposition by just marking these schools and trends, omitting detailed descriptions. It includes painting and sculpture. Some of the names of that time are not represented in the exposition at all as the museum does not possess their works”, the museum has announced.

In 2012 the Russian Museum is going to stage the 20th century exhibition of art from 1965 to 2000 that would reveal all the themes in greater depth, and broaden the scope of the 1930s-1950s exposition.
