IT and Society: Moscow Region looks forward to introducing of universal electronic card

Issue of universal electronic cards in Moscow Region is due on January 1, 2012.

In accordance with the Federal Law “On organization of provision of government and municipal services”, the new card will replace all social cards, which were issued by constituent territories of the federation locally and in prospect will displace many documents, such as the identity cards, medical insurance policies, pension insurance certificates, student cards and many others.

The universal electronic card will make it easier for residents of Moscow Region to receive govt and municipal services by using ATMs, electronic terminals, called infomats, PCs, mobile devices. Universal electronic card will be accepted in the public transport – metro stations, busses, trolley busses and trams.
