
Libraries and education: Conference of International Association of School Libraries on Jamaica
From 7 to 11 August 2011 in Kingston (Jamaica) takes place the 40th Annual Conference of the International Association of School Librarianship, IASL). The event is organized by the Library and Information Association of Jamaica (LIAJA).
The conference topic 2011 is: "School libraries: helping students of the 21st century."
Conference Objectives:
- To provide information to teachers, administrators and policy makers about the role of school libraries in the educational process.
- Demonstrate best examples of international practice and modern technology in school libraries to school librarians.
- Ensure the exchange of information on programs and teaching aids for children and youth in the international community.
- Promote research in the field of school libraries.
The event brought together school librarians of the local and international level from the U.S., Taiwan, Japan, Canada, Turkey, China, Sweden, Brazil, India, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, South Africa, Denmark, South Korea, Nigeria, Lithuania, Austria, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Italy, Bahamas, Portugal, India, Trinidad and Tobago, Vietnam, Britain, Japan, France, Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Croatia and Qatar.
An important part of the conference is the exhibition, which demonstrates the best educational, library and information products, as well as other ancillary products and services.
