IT and Libraries: Theoretical and practical conference on e-resources and IT at Ulan-Ude libraries

Sept. 26–30 2011 the State Public Scientific and Technical Library, Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk) at the facility of the National Library of the Republic of Buryatia (Ulan-Ude) is holding the Interregional theoretical and practical conference with a focus on e-resources and Information Technologies at libraries.

The purpose of the conference: detailed discussion of problems encountered by information and library sphere in the region.

The conference will address the following themes:

- Long-term development of information and library sphere with involvement of e-resources and technologies;

- Information literacy as a condition for universal access to information;

-  IT-platforms, IТ-infrastructure employed at libraries and information centers and their effectiveness;

- Latest library products and services built on IT-technologies and web-services. E-libraries.

- Problems of training, retraining and attraction of IT-personnel at libraries. The future of the profession of librarian;

- Modern forms of interlibrary cooperation;

- Information Technologies for access and preservation of cultural heritage;

- Library and “e-city”;

- Libraries and provision of access to legal and socially important information.
