History of Russia: Vienna mounts events timed to 200th anniversary of Russia’s victory in the Patriotic War of 1812

On September 20 the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Vienna opened series of events timed to 200th anniversary of Russia’s victory in the Patriotic War of 1812.

In cooperation with the Association of Russian Assembly of the Nobility and International Academy of Culture and Art was organized an exhibition of paintings and graphic works by Russian artists dedicated to the Patriotic War of 1812. The exhibition puts on show works by the People’s Artist of Russia Pyotr Stronsky, Honored Artist of Russia Nina Krasovitova and others, as well as documentary materials, accumulated by the Society of Descendants of Veterans of Patriotic War of 1812. The exhibition will run through September 27, 2011.

The event attracted representatives of Austrian community, officials, diplomats, journalists and cultural workers of Austria.
