World History: Conference “Napoleonic wars on Europe’s mind maps: historical consciousness and literary myths” in Moscow

Sept. 22-23 2011, Moscow, the Russian State University for Humanities (Moscow) and Pasquale Paoli University (Corte, France) are co-hosting the international scientific conference “Napoleonic wars on Europe’s mind maps: historical consciousness and literary myths”.

The conference addresses the following themes:

1. Peoples of Europe in the epoch of Napoleon: what did they know of themselves and what did they think of each other.

2. Russia in the epoch of Napoleonic wars: what was there and what can we remember about that.

3. Image of Napoleon and his epoch in the historical memory of nations.

4. Studies of Napoleon and mythmaking.

5. Wars of Napoleon: national traditions of narrative history.

6. Napoleonic Empire – prototype of United Europe: pros and cons.

7. Central Eastern Europe and heritage of Napoleon.

8. Patriotic War of 1812 and the epoch of Napoleon in literature and art: world of images, world of ideas.
