World History: Exhibition “Memory of wartime years” opens in China

A traveling exhibition of Amur Region called “Memory of wartime years”, which marks 66th anniversary of victory of Soviet and Chinese people in the war against militaristic Japan, kicked off on September 16, 2011 in Harbin (People’s Republic of China).

The exhibition has been launched at the Museum of the Fallen Hero in Harbin. Its inauguration was attended by the delegation from Amur Region, representatives of Embassy of Russia in People’s Republic of China, heads of the Culture Department of Heilongjiang province in People’s Republic of China.

“People of China will be given a chance to familiarize themselves with articles and documents from collections of Amur Regional Local Lore Museum. These materials tell about military operations of Soviet units while liberation of Manchuria. Separately are unveiled the front-line drawings of Amur artist Boris Gorlach – veteran of the war against militaristic Japan”, - informed the spokesman of regional government.

One of sections of the exhibition turns the spotlight on the joint work of Russia and China concentrated on preservation and beautification of military burial places, located in China.
