Exhibitions: “Epoch 1812” Photo Exhibition in Moscow

From 14 to 30 September 2011 the Moscow Museum and Exhibition Center "Worker and Collective Farmer" hosts an exhibition of photographs "Epoch 1812".

The exhibition presents the works by the "Epoch 1812" photo competition finalists, held in honor of the 200th anniversary of Russia's victory in the Patriotic War of 1812. Professional photographers and amateurs, using the unique features of reportage photography, were able to convey not only color but also the spirit of 1812, which is not by chance called by historians the "epoch."

The project features the works by the leading photographers-re-constructors: Vitaly Saranov (Kaliningrad), Alexis Goss (St. Petersburg), Oleg Polyakov (Moscow).

The photo exhibition "Epoch 1812" presents unique ambrotypes - positive silver images on glass, taken by an ancient antique optics by photographer Nadezhda Khramova in accordance with an ancient technique. The images on glass resulted from a wet plate collodion process, invented in 1851 by Frederick Scott Archer.

The "Moscow after the fire" series by Elena Kuznetsova the architectural monuments of the 17th century got a new reading: the House of Saltykovs on Chertolsky Lane, the House in Kozhevnicheskaya Sloboda and the House of Sverchkov guest taken by a 99-year-old camera BENTZIN PRIMAR.

Vladimir Fomichev, presented a vivid series of portraits of re-constructors, members of the "Vohonsky warrior" club, taken by FKD 1968.

The photo contest "Epoch 1812" brought together the photographers from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania. The final exhibition "Epoch 1812" at the Museum and Exhibition center "Worker and Collective Farmer" highlights more than 200 photographs, including a series of photographs of children and children from orphanages and boarding.

The "Epoch 1812" photo contest is a unique project aimed at promoting the country's history and development of amateur photography.
