September 16, 2011 at the Russian Embassy in Paris, opens the "Russian forum" - a two-day conference of Russian compatriots in France.

This gathering of the Russian diaspora in France is held for the first time. Its main aim is to bring together representatives of various strata and generations of our countrymen, leaders of the numerous Russian organizations that exist in different regions of France, for networking and interaction.

The conference will provide a platform for discussing pressing issues of life and activities of the Russian diaspora in France, bringing together all of its layers to preserve historical and cultural heritage of the "Russian France."

The focus of the meeting in Paris is the strengthening of the Russian language, Russian-language media activities, maintenance and development of economic, scientific and cultural ties of compatriots with their historical homeland.

As repeatedly emphasized the Russian Culture Minister Alexander Avdeev, contemporary Russian society appreciates the great contribution of the representatives of emigration to the preservation of Russian cultural heritage and many Russian relics abroad. A huge role in this process played cadet corps, schools, parish schools, publications by countrymen which had been in force in France.

Besides figures of the Russian diaspora the Paris’ "Russian forum" is also attended by representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Public Chamber, the governments of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
