Information technology: Microsoft released Windows 8 for developers
Microsoft has unveiled to developers its new operating system Windows 8. The file is downloadable from the website of the company, said Microsoft representatives at the conference BUILD, which opened on September 13 in Anaheim, USA.
Windows 8 will be available in two versions - for mobile ARM chips and for computer processors x64/x86. For the moment only the last one is available to developers. ARM chip version is not ready yet and will be released later.
Windows President of the Microsoft Steven Sinofsky said that the assemblage of Windows 8 for developers will be constantly updated. In the future the company will release a beta version, then a release candidate and then the final version of the operating system.
The company did not disclose the terms of release of the final version of Windows 8. It is assumed that the OS will go on sale in summer or autumn of 2012.
At the BUILD conference Microsoft unveiled a few more details about Windows 8. In particular, the company confirmed that the OS provides an application store, called Windows Store. It was also announced that Windows 8 will support the technology of NFC contactless communication.
Windows 8 was announced at the D9 conference in early June. The company then told that the OS can run on devices of different form factors - tablets, laptops and desktops, and will support different ways of management, including the mouse, keyboard, stylus and finger gestures.
