E-books: Amazon to launch an e-book library

The Amazon company, managing the online store of the same name, plans to open a library of electronic books accessible upon subscription, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The library will not receive new books. On the contrary, it will hold the editions from previous years. Users, who want to use the library, must pay a monthly or annual fee to the company. After that, they get access to all of its e-books during the paid period. The library will be part of a paid service of the Amazon Prime service.

Amazon is in talks with publishers to provide books for the library. The terms offered to publishers by the online retailer, are not disclosed. The launch time of the library is still unknown.
