Internet resources: .RU domain left behind EU and China domains

According to the results of August 2011, the Russian national top level domain .RU left behind the domains of the European Union (. EU)  and China (.CN) and is now in the fourth place among the national domains. This is stated in the report of the Coordination Center for TLD. Ahead of the Russian domain are only recognized leaders: the national domain of Germany .DE (14,572,913 domain names), the United Kingdom .UK (9627873 domain names) and the Netherlands .NL (4,641,578 domain names). The total number of registered domain names at .RU is 3,412,266.

In August the domain .RU also showed one of the highest growth rate among the 10 largest national domains, both in relative and absolute terms. The number of domain names at .RU has grown by 1.3%, i.e. 43 846 domain names. For comparison, in the domain .DE the increase was 0.2%, i.e. 29 174 domain names, and the nearest competitor - the domain .EU, which includes 3,394,024 domain names - has grown by 0.64%, i.e. 21 626 names.

The national domain of China, which a year ago ranked third on the list with more than 7 million domain names, is today at the 5th place: according to August results  .CN domain numbers 3,345,906 domain names.

The impressive growth rate for August showed the second Russian national domain .RF: 1.8%, i.e. 15 371 domain names in a month. The total number of domain names at .RF in August was 886,239.
