A large-scale project initiated by the Italian National Agency for Tourism (ENIT), “Italia Comes to You” Exhibition is held in St. Petersburg 10 to 17 September, 2011.

"St. Petersburg is the second city to see and feel the taste of Italian life: before that “Italia Comes to You” was triumphantly held in Moscow: during just the first two days, it was attended by 11 000 visitors," - organizers said.

The exhibition shows what this country is famous for: tourism, fashion, culture, art centers throughout the world, an unique nature and much more. All this is housed in 1000 square meter pavilion specially erected in the territory of Peter and Paul Fortress.

The main attraction of the "Culture" exposition is a unique 15th century fresco "Madonna on the throne with the infant, angels and saints," by Francesco di Giorgio Martini, specially brought to St. Petersburg.

Italia Comes to You also features a modern art exhibition. Ten Russian artists, including painters, sculptors, photographers and designers, on the invitation of ENIT visited Italy and, being inspired by this country, have created works that are represented in the pavilion.

According to organizers, the main idea of the project is to show Italy as a country which is very close to Russian emotionally though distant in geographical aspect.

From St. Petersburg the exhibition will move on to Yekaterinburg.
