Russian history: 300th anniversary of Oranienbaum foundation

In the palace and park suburb of St. Petersburg - Oranienbaum - September 9, 2011 launch festivities marking its 300th anniversary of foundation.

The main event of the first day is the opening after restoration of the Chinese Palace - a masterpiece of rococo architecture designed by architect Antonio Rinaldi for Empress Catherine II. "The Chinese Food" and "The Stone Hall" pavilions will house jubilee exhibitions.

The weekend will open its door the Grand Menshikov Palace, named after the owner of the manor near the Gulf of Finland, His Serene Highness Prince Alexander Menshikov, granted to him by Emperor Peter the Great. Persons interested can download a mobile application for smart phones "Oranienbaum through the centuries" and to make excursions to the parks and palaces using the EPG.

The gem of the museum will be a multimedia exhibition "Journey through space and time." It will allow diving into the history of the Peterhof road and Oranienbaum, learn about the history and fate of its owners. The restored interiors will also host the exhibition on the last owners of Oranienbaum - Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
