Regions of Russia: Scientific and cultural initiative “Dostoevsky. Siberia. 21st century” under way in Omsk

In Omsk the scientific and cultural project "Dostoevsky. Siberia. 21st Century" is under way. The initiative is timed to the 190th anniversary of a great Russian writer. On the memorable date, which is celebrated on October 30, more than 150 events will be featured.

The program of the project includes the events, significant for cultural and scientific life of Siberia, said the rector of the Fyodor Dostoevsky State University of Omsk and project coordinator Vladimir Strunin. It brought together Omsk and non-resident theaters, libraries, museums, universities and secondary schools.

Thus, the memorial flat of Dostoevsky in Moscow housed "The World of "Notes from the House of the Dead" exhibition, featuring the paintings by Leonid Lamm and other Siberian artists. The OmSU academic program now includes special inter-faculty biographical course by doctor of philology Elena Akelkina "Dostoevsky. Biography and Destiny." There also will be held readings, book exhibitions, tours, competitions, contests, publishing projects. Memorial public garden of the writer will be laid.

On the birthday of Fyodor Dostoevsky in Omsk will take place an international conference entitled "Dostoevsky. Siberia. 21st  century ". It will bring together prominent Russian and foreign researchers.

The project "Dostoevsky. Siberia. 21st century" is supported by the Government of the Omsk region.
