Internet resources: “Russian Domains” unique statistic Internet resource launched

September 5, 2011 the Coordination Center for TLD RU jointly with the Technical Centre for Internet and Openstat statistical service launched a unique project - a statistical web site, "Domains of Russia."

The "Domains of Russia" features daily updated statistics covering all aspects of the Russian Internet segment. Thanks to the new resource, users can find out how many domain names are registered in the Russian domain zone to date, how many of them already have functioning web sites, which region of Russia has the greatest number of registered domain names and when the creation of new domain zones is expected.

The resource also highlights "World Statistics" section, as having no counterparts today, which collects monthly data on the number of domain names in the largest (over a million domain names) national top level domains.

In addition to domain statistics, the site also presents data on the web servers hosting websites of.RU and .RF domain zones, and the operating systems installed on servers. There is a group of reports   where you can find information on browsers, mobile devices, service providers, through which users access the Internet. Here you can also find information on the geographical distribution of Russian Internet users.

The "Analytics" section provides a lot of different analytical materials. They include a report describing the main trends in the domain space and the Internet in Russia and abroad, as well as complex specialized studies covering all aspects of the industry. One of these studies, for example, treats with a linguistic analysis of domain names in .RF. 

Among the main sources of statistical data available at the resource are the main domain registry of .RU and .RF, data of the search robot (web-crawler), scanning sites by domains of the registers, and specialized counters of the Openstat. Data from the registry is daily processed by technical means of Openstat for reporting, graphs and charts. To analyze the development of .RU and .RF, specialists use the most comprehensive set of indicators, which have never been made ​​available to users in this amount. For example, data on the use of second-level domains in .RU and .RF is derived from analysis of all registered domains of these domain names, rather than a sample of them.

"Domains of Russia" is a resource that is useful both to journalists and analysts specializing in the development and operation of the domain space and the Internet in general, and for a wide range of visitors wishing to learn more about how operate Russian and international domains.
