Russian culture abroad: “Days of Russian culture on the Sea of Japan shores” Festival in Japan

In the prefectural center of Japan, Tottori city, are held the "Days of Russian culture on the shores of the Sea of Japan", organized by the Primorsky State Museum named after V. K. Arsenyev with the support the "Russian world" Foundation’s grant. The program of events includes a photo exhibition on the history of Pacific Russia and its outpost in the Asia-Pacific region – Vladivostok; demonstration of a collection of traditional folk costume by I. V. Semenova, senior scientist of Slavic Folklore Laboratory under  the Primorsky State Museum named after V. K. Arsenyev; and various master-classes.

Also, September 1, 2011 in the Japanese city of Tottori opened the Office of the Russian world. The Office of the Russian world was created on the basis of Tottori Prefectural Library in order to increase the popularity of the Russian language in Japan, a positive image of our country in the Asia-Pacific region and attract the attention of the Japanese to Russia, Russian culture and Russian traditions.
