Museums: “Museum Guide” International Exhibition and Discussion Platform in Moscow

3 September 2011

September 2-3, 2011 in Moscow takes place the "Museum Guide” International Exhibition and Discussion platform.

"Museum Guide" is both an outdoor festival, and a new type of professional event, representing a museum as an actual modern cultural center that can professionally interpret the heritage, be interesting to a variety of audiences, effectively use the latest technology.

"Museum Guide" presents museums as a space of new experiences and unforgettable impressions. Conversation about the museums is held in a new way: presentations and stands are replaced with a curator exhibition interpreting six successful museum projects. Instead of official ceremonies there is a debating club running, providing non-stop meetings for professionals and a wide public with leading European and Russian experts working with museums.

The festival is based under the projects of Vladimir Potanin Charity Fund - "The Changing Museum in a Changing World" contest and "The first publication" program.

Domestic museums preserve the heritage of the past, however it does not prevent them from being active participants in modern life. Bright and unusual projects are not only in big metropolitan museums. Grant competition "Changing Museum in a Changing World" presents at the festival an interactive exhibition of the best museum projects from Moscow, Petrozavodsk, Izborsk (Pskov region), Tver, Aromashevo village (Sverdlovsk region), and Perm. The program "The first publication" presents editions, covering unknown and little known museum collections.
