International events: Russian Center of Science and Culture opens in Dushanbe

September 2, 2011 will see the inauguration ceremony of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Dushanbe (Republic of Tadzhikistan).

The center is set up in accordance with the agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tadzhikistan on establishment and operation conditions of cultural and information centers signed in February 2011 by the Head of the Federal Agency on the CIS, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) Farit Mukhametshin and the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tadzhikistan Mirzoshokhrukh Asrori.

Guests of the inauguration ceremony will familiarize themselves with the “e-classroom” – the Center of Collective Access to Russia’s Educational Resources. The video conference will virtually bring together Rossotrudnichestvo TV studio including specialists of A.S. Pushkin Russian Language Institute and Russian language teachers in Tadzhikistan at the Russian Center of Science and Culture. Teachers will learn about opportunities for bringing into life distance learning systems. In addition there will be a demonstration of Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library’s Electronic Reading Room and Information and Educational Center “Russian Museum: Virtual Branch”.

At halls of the Russian Center of Science and Culture one can see multimedia presentations of the following projects: “Sochi-2014”, “Kazan Universiade – 2013”, “RUSNANO”, “50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight into space”, exhibition of books about Russia, which was donated by the House of Russian Abroad that bears the name of A. I. Solzhenitsyn, “Russia Today” photo exhibition. Guests will be shown a documentary on the history of Rossotrudnichestvo called “85 years following the paths of friendship”.

The Russian Center of Science and Culture will incorporate the Russian Language Center, Center for Innovative Cooperation, studios and clubs. Here will be launched concerts, exhibitions, conferences, roundtable discussions, and festivals of Russian Culture. Particular attention will be drawn to cooperation with organizations of Russian compatriots living in Tadzhikistan.
