Society and Culture: Literary and Historical complex to open in Peredelkino

On the occasion of 110th birth anniversary of Mikhail Sholokhov, a literary and historical complex named after the great Russian writer is expected to open in Peredelkino datcha settlement.

The anniversary of Mikhail Sholokhov will be widely celebrated in 2015. By this time Peredelkino will run a complex which will bring together archives, manuscripts, awards of the writers, who are associated with this settlement. Among them are Chingiz Aitmatov, Bella Akhmadulina, Andrei Voznesenski, Boris Pasternak, Bulat Okhudzhava, Mikhail Sholokhov and others.

Sholokhov Committee has submitted a letter to the Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin with a proposal to set up “Peredelkino” complex. This proposal was supported by the Russian Union of Writers. The Head of the Sholokhov Committee - Andrei Chernomyrdin - said that the Prime Minister had already commissioned the Ministry of Culture to consider the idea of a museum complex, which would bear the name of the Nobel Prize winner and creator of “Quietly Flows the Don”.
