Exhibitions: Raphael’s original painting goes on show in Lipetsk

On October 25 2011 Lipetsk Regional Local Lore Museum opened an exhibition which displays works of Italian Renaissance.

Its visitors will have a chance to discover the original painting by a great Renaissance artist – Raphael’s “Holy Family” (Rome, 1509). This masterpiece comes from the collection of Nizhny Tagil Museum of Fine Arts.

Along with the masterpiece of the world-famous artist, the exhibition showcases two copies of Raphael’s well-known works, also painted by Italian masters. These are “Madonna with children and a bird” (2nd half of 16th century – beg. 17th century) and “Madonna del Granduca” (1874). A full-length film on the art of Raphael and other Renaissance artists will be shown to visitors.

Apart from this, the exhibition offers to have a look at paintings of old masters from collections of the regional local lore museum, for example, works by Vasnetsov, Kuprin, Grabar, Bogdanov, and Kalmykov.
