History of Russia: Fifth International Historical and St. Innocent Readings in Kamchatka

On October 19-20 2011 Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is holding Fifth International Historical and Saint Innocent Readings dedicated to 270th anniversary of discovery of Russian America and beginning of exploration of the Pacific Ocean.

The Readings will address the following themes:

- The role of Kamchatka expeditions in exploration and development of North Pacific territory.

- Outstanding researchers of North Pacific territory.

- The North-East in the cross-cultural space of Russia, Japan and the United States.

- Peoples of the North Pacific territory.

- Mission of the Orthodox Church in the north-east of Asia and the north-west of America.

Fifth International Readings have brought together scientist from Germany, France, Japan, Denmark, the United States, Moscow, Arkhangelsk, and St. Petersburg. All in all 49 reports are expected to be delivered during the event.
