IT abroad: Microsoft releases updated Intune service

18 October 2011

Microsoft Corp. has released an updated version of its Windows Intune cloud service, whose first version was shown off 7 months ago. The new release points to the fact that Microsoft intends to position cloud solutions as one of its central products both for enterprises and users.

In addition to cloud services and PC management, Intune provides upgrade rights to Windows 7 Enterprise.

"Eventually, Windows Intune will deliver more management capabilities than the on-premises solutions but with less cost and higher productivity. We’re focused on enabling these emerging workstyles – helping users complete their jobs from virtually anywhere, at any time, while still satisfying the IT professional’s need for management”, Windows Blog reads.

“Windows Intune subscription gives rights to the most current version of Windows so you can standardize on one version and give your employees the best and the most modern Windows experience. Support for Windows XP comes to an end in April 2014, making the move to Windows 7 a real and pressing issue for most businesses”, Windows Blog reads.
