Languages of Peoples of Russia: National Library of Buryatia launches “Buryat Language Week”

Buryat Language Week is running October 17-21 2011 in the National Library of the Republic of Buryatia.

The holiday will include a series of events: presentations of book expositions “Buryat Language: Unity and Diversity”, “World Literature Classics in Buryat”, “Cultural Heritage of the Buryats”, “Exhibition of Teaching Materials and Textbooks for Buryat Language Learning”, and the exposition of literature in Old Mongolian written language.

Following a tradition, there is a competition of compositions (stories, essays) in Buryat language which is this year dedicated to 130th anniversary of the National Library of Buryatia.

On October 21 Buryat State Philharmonic will give a final evening of “Buryat Language Day” holiday. The evening will see summing up of the results of the Buryat Language Week and the award ceremony of the winner of the essay contest.
