On October 14 2011 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. the Internet portal of the Russian Association of Electronic Libraries webcasted the Web Conference “Public Library Services Provided Electronically – Modern State, Experience of Implementation”.

In accordance with the Russian Federation legislation all services to the population should be rendered both in the traditional way and electronically. As to libraries, the compulsory services are – access to bibliographic data originating from state library collections and to information from state library collections with the exception of copyright-related information. On the one hand, the state guarantees the provision of these services, and on the other hand, it comes out as a customer of many other library services, such as, for example, creation of electronic catalogues or book collections. The conference addressed the work over the projects based on implementation of compulsory and additional public services.
