International events: “Portraits of Moscow” Photo Exhibition launched in Tallinn

On October 4th, 2011 Tallinn (Estonia) is opening a photo exhibition of “Moscow City Museum” Museum Association as a part of cultural cooperation with Tallinn City Museum.

The “Portraits of Moscow” exhibition has been built upon Moscow City Museum’s photo collection, which totals over 50 thousand documentary materials casting light on the life of Moscow in second half 19th century – beginning 21st century.

The exhibition shows the changes in the look of Moscow since the time of the Russian Empire. Photos present Moscow in late 19th century, early 20th century, Moscow during World War II, the time when Yuri Gagarin made his spaceflight and the Olympiad of 1980. Visitors can also see the present-day metropolis: skyscrapers, modern business centers, culture and sport palaces, elite apartment houses and modern squares and streets.
