Exhibitions: “Kandinsky and “The Blue Rider” travelling exhibition in Moscow

On October 4th 2011, Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow is staging “Kandinsky and “The Blue Rider” travelling exhibition, which has already visited different cities of Europe and Japan.

For the first time in Russia the exhibition puts on show works of artists – members of “The Blue Rider” group from the collection of the Lenbachhaus Gallery (Munich). This international group of artists was set up in 1911 under the aegis of “The Blue Rider” almanac. On its pages Vasily Kandinsky and Franz Marc wrote on behalf of young European avant-garde artists of early 20th century. The exhibition at Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts features 62 paintings, including symbolist paintings of Franz Stuck and Franz Lenbach, 30 works of Vasily Kandinsky which date to 1902-1911, and also works by such famous artists as Franz Marc, Paul Klee, August Macke, Gabriele Münter, Alexei Yavlensky, and Marianna Verevkina.
