Exhibitions: Works by professors of the I. E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture displayed in St. Petersburg

October 3, 2011 the Rumyantsev Mansion (St. Petersburg), opens an exhibition of works by professors of the I. E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, St. Petersburg, - sculptor M. K. Anikushin, graphic artist V. A. Vetrogonsky and painter B. S. Ugarov. The exhibition features more than 90 works from private collections. Some works are exhibited for the first time.

Artistic fates of these artists are very similar. All three - M. K. Anikushin, V. A. Vetrogonsky and B. S. Ugarov - studied and then taught at the I. E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and trained a galaxy of painters, graphic artists, sculptors. Representatives of one generation, though working in different fields of art, they had similar ideals and beliefs and developed the traditions of Russian realistic art.

The exhibition features seven works by M. K. Anikushin: several sculptures of A. S. Pushkin and A. P. Chekhov, a portrait of ballerina Galina Ulanova (1983), etc.

The exhibition in the Rumyantsev Mansion also displays graphics by V. A. Vetrogonsky made in different years. Among them are the works from the series of 1960-1970's, and watercolors created in 1950-1990’s in Russia and abroad. Next to the familiar Russian landscapes on display side by side are views of Berlin, Venice, Paris and Rome.

Also the exhibition features paintings by B. S. Ugarov "Pushkin" (1970), "A. S. Pushkin. White Night" (1985), "The Hunt "(1988) and numerous landscapes created over the years. The "Transportation of Ice" (1950) is exhibited for the first time.
