
International events: Exhibition of painting and sculpture from the collection of the State Hermitage in Yoshkar-Ola as a part of the Russia-Italy Year
In the context of the Year of Italy in Russia and Year of Russia in Italy, the Republican Museum of Visual Arts, Yoshkar-Ola (Mari El Republic) hosts the “Light of Renaissance. Painting and Sculpture from the State Hermitage collection” exhibition from November 22, 2011 to January 15, 2012. Two paintings and four sculptures of the 15th – 16th centuries represent the particularities of artistic schools of four centers of Renaissance culture in Italy – Florence, Padua, Venice, Milan.
The exposition features bronze statuettes of unknown Venice master of the first half of the 16th century, “Saint family” by Julio Cesare Proccaccini, the painter of Late Renaissance, as well as reliefs and majolica made from the original of the Renaissance portrait master of the 15th century Antonio Rosselino.
