Presidential Library staff discussed ways to promote Russian language with foreign colleagues

On November 23rd 2011 representatives of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library launched a videoconference with participants of the forum of young teachers of Russian language, graduates and students involved in Russian language and literature studies “Russian language promotion as a basis for furthering integration processes in CIS member-states”. The forum is running in Minsk, Belarus.

The discussion addressed implementation of popular-science and educational programs intended to support Russian language and preserve Russian language information space abroad. Forum’s participants and the Presidential Library’s staff members talked over projects initiated by libraries in Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Latvia which aim to provide access to unique academic collections and library collections in Russian language.

Deputy Director General of the Presidential Library for Branches - S. M. Makeev together with librarians presented to forum’s participants central projects carried out by the Presidential Library, told about the work of remote electronic reading rooms, operating abroad.

The videoconference was organized by the Russian Center of Science and Culture of Rossotrudnichestvo office in the Republic of Belarus, Library and Information Center of Tolstoy State Pedagogical University of Tula, Belarusian State University Fundamental Library and the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library.
