
International events: Ethnographic exhibition “Side by Side” revealing the culture of the CIS member states is held in Paris
The ethnographic exhibition “Side by Side”, revealing the culture of all CIS member states, opened November 18, 2011 in Paris, for the first time in Europe.
The project “Side by Side”, timed to the 20th anniversary of creation of the Commonwealth of Independent States, is a visual research which combines traditional art, avant-guard and the topical artistic practices of the 11 CIS member states.
The exhibition displays paintings, drawings, objects of material culture, photographs, video, objects, installations.
Paris will see the works of modern artists from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belorussia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
Also are presented the works of avant-guard artists, such as Kazimir Malevich, Ilya Chashnik, Nikolai Suetin, Konstantin Rozhdestvensky, Pavel Kuznetsov, Vasily Yermilov, Victor Ufimtsev.
