Society and Culture: Open competition’s designs for a new Pyotr Stolypin’s monument go on show

November 16-30 2011 the Information Center of Moscow Committee for Architecture and Town Planning is running an expo-presentation of architectural and artistic designs submitted to the open competition for a new Pyotr Stolypin’s monument.

The purpose of the exhibition is to familiarize the public with works submitted to the contest, hold an open discussion of displayed projects and offer an opportunity of individual voting for particular projects, the results of which will be made available to the contest’s jury. The contest has been announced in accordance with the Decree of the President of Russia “On Celebration of Pyotr Stolypin’s 150th birth anniversary”. A new monument is said to be erected in Moscow, by the Government building of the Russian Federation.

On July 13 2011 the foundation stone was laid on the place of the future monument - a ceremony which attracted members of the Organizing Committee for the Celebration of Pyotr Stolypin’s Anniversary.

The first round of the open competition was running from August 5 through November 14. All in all there were 42 applications submitted by teams including both famous sculptors and artists and young specialists.
