Memorable dates of Russia: Events in honor of the 300th birthday anniversary of M. V. Lomonosov in Archangelsk Region

The events marking the 300^th birthday anniversary of M. V. Lomonosov will start November 9, 2011 in Archangelsk Region.

9 November, near the new Lomonosov House in Archangelsk will be inaugurated a stele to Lomonosov.

In addition, 9 November the N. A. Dobrolyubov Regional Scientific Library of Archangelsk will host a presentation by the “Lomonosov” publishing house. The same day the North (Arctic) Federal University will host the Russian-Norwegian seminar of young scholars “Heritage of Lomonosov and Nansen”. Also, in NaRFU will be held a series of other international and interregional conferences and seminars.

The main event of the jubilee year will be the 40^th Lomonosov Readings. They will be launched on 10 November in Severdvinsk, a session of the readings will be held in Archangelsk on 11 November, and on 12 November the readings will take place in the native land of Lomonosov – Kholmogory.

It is worth mentioning that papers which are going to be given at this year readings are remarkable by their unconventional points of view in regards of Lomonosov’s life and teaching. The public will be proposed the ideas which are not published in mass media but have the right to be discussed.

At the official session of Lomonosov Readings in Archangelsk will be summed up the results of Lomonosov’s Year, and the action “Sequence of good deeds” which has united all municipal associations of the region, will come to the end.

On the day of opening of Lomonosov Readings in Archangelsk, the prizes in honor of Lomonosov will be awarded.

According to the Minister Deputy of education, science and culture, authorized representative of the Governor of Archangelsk Region in Kholmogory district Ekaterina Prokopieva, the birthday anniversary of Lomonosov is especially anticipated in Kholmogory. In addition to summing up the results of the year and inspection of constructed sites, there will be another important event – installation of a memorial sign in honor of the parents of the great scholar.

About 300 guests are expected to come for celebration of the birthday anniversary of the great scholar in Archangelsk Region. Among them will be scholars, representatives of youth organizations, high-ranking officials.
