Internet and Society: “Большое правительство.РФ” website officially launched
On November 1st 2011 the Public Committee of Supporters of the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev officially launched “большое правительство.рф” website (in English: big government) (Большоеправительство.рф and bigovernment.ru), which invites users to take part in a discussion of government’s initiatives. The website’s editor-in-chief has become a former chief editor of “Izvestiya” and “Kommersant” newspapers Raf Shakirov.
The “big government” initiative was proposed by Dmitry Medvedev on October 15 at the meeting with his supporters. The head of the state believes that the “big government” is to promote prompt cooperation between ministers and representatives of parties, local and municipal authorities and civil society institutes.
To become a participant of the “big government” users need to register, in particular, indicate the first and the last name, city, and e-mail.
The website now offers several themes for discussion along with a registration-free poll “What is your attitude toward decrease of cars provided by the employer?”
