History of Russia: Exhibition marking the history of celebration of the New Year in Russia open in Moscow

"Happy New Year, dear comrades!" exhibition is open at the State Historical Museum in Moscow. Its exhibits tell about the New Year celebrations in Russia.

Among the main exhibits - a variety of Christmas toys of the early 1900's - 1980's: they are made of glass, cotton, papier-mache, cardboard, self-made. They are all witnesses to various events in our history, as well as the collections of Christmas cards, invitations to the Christmas party, photos, posters, Christmas carnival costumes and masks.

The exhibition displays toys hanging from Christmas trees arranged in chronological order: the tree of 1930s, the Christmas tree of the World War II period, the Christmas tree of 1950-1960s. Thematic trees have also been decorated.

The section "Children's New Year's Day" presents children costumes, masks made of papier-mache, garlands, decorations used for interior, amateur photos, invitations to Christmas tree parties, including the main Christmas Tree of the country, the wrappings for gifts.

The exhibition ends with the story of the first official celebration of Christmas Eve in 1991, when in the GUM, as usual, was dressed up first Christmas tree.

There is the play area at the exhibition where you can make a New Year's toys by yourself according to the drawings of 1940-1960's and put them on a Christmas tree.
