
IT and Culture: Russian Museum’s virtual branch opens its doors in Omsk
On December 23rd 2011 “Russian Museum: Virtual Branch” information and education center opened in Omsk at the Regional Information and Analytical Education Center, at the facility of the Center for Methodological and Information Support of Distance Education for Handicapped Children.
The Regional Information and Analytical Education Center in Omsk Region provides equal opportunities for quality education using distance educational technologies. Now it is also supported by the Russian museum’s virtual branch project, which provides access to the largest collection of Russian art.
Multimedia programs and video films on the history of Russian art offered by the Russian Museum as a part of inauguration of a new virtual branch, will make the database of educational materials on culture and history of Russia. Electronic catalogues of major exhibitions staged by the Russian Museum, training films, interactive game programs, which contain high-resolution images of artworks, articles by leading museum staff members, will prove useful to all users and will be accessible not only as a part of distance education program, but also to visitors of the Regional Information and Analytical Education Center.
