Memorable dates of Russia: “Sedov” sailing vessel prepares for a world cruise in celebration of 1150th anniversary of Russian statehood

The world’s largest Russian sailing vessel – barque “Sedov” has arrived to Kaliningrad where it has began preparation for a world cruise scheduled for 2012 which will run under the aegis of 1150th anniversary of Russian statehood.

The Head of the Federal Agency for Fishery of the Russian Federation – Andrei Krainiy - commented that the route would resemble the one once taken by the first Russian round-the-world expedition of Ivan Krusenstern, however it would be significantly broadened to include the regions which were studied by the great Russian travelers – Alexander Bulatovich, Nikolai Przhevalsky, Afanasiy Nikitin, Nikolai Miklouho-Maclay, Faddey Bellingshausen, Vladimir Arsenev and others.

The voyage is due to start on May 20th 2012. All interesting events during the cruise will be broadcasted on Internet. For the first time the legendary sailing vessel will turn into a TV channel afloat. The project has been initiated by the traveler Leonid Kruglov, while a completion for all those who want to join the cruise he called “Seven daredevils. World cruise-2012”.
