
Society and Culture: Rare books from Kaluga Art Museum go on display within “Myth as a source of world’s comprehension” exhibit
On December 23rd 2011 Kaluga Regional Art Museum is launching a new exhibition “Myth as a source of the world’s comprehension. Paintings, drawings, sculptures from the museum”.
The exhibition turns the spotlight on realization of myth in visual arts - from works of major Renaissance masters (Giulio Romano, Baccio Bandinelli) and up to early 21st century. Selected works include paintings, drawings and engravings by masters from Russia, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Flanders, France, unique Italian ceramics of 17th c., examples of West European and contemporary Russian sculpture.
One of the highlights of the exhibition is a book section. Those who take an interest may discover rare editions of 19th c.: a book entitled “Mural painting of Pompeii”, an album of engravings “Luxembourg Palace Gallery”, “Prince of Orange Gallery” and others.
The exhibition is running until February 26th 2012.
