Society and Culture: Conference “Cultural Heritage at the turn of 19th – 20th cc” in Omsk

On December 20th-21st 2011 Vrubel Regional Museum of Fine Arts is holding the 15th All-Russian Theoretical and Practical Conference “December Dialogues” in memory of the museum’s first director F. V. Melekhin.

The central theme of the conference 2011 is “Cultural heritage at the turn of 19th – 20th cc. In celebration of 155th birth anniversary of M. A. Vrubel”. Following a tradition, on agenda are issues related to studies in theory and history of arts and architecture, archaeology and ethnology, cultural life of the Urals and Siberia, history of museums and concept of development of museums, museum collections.

There are 86 reports to be delivered at the conference, 20 of them are stand reports. The conference has brought together participants from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Khanty-Mansiysk, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Novoaltaisk, Nizhny Tagil and also from Kazakhstan and Latvia.

Scholars from Omsk Region are taking an active part in the conference. Among them are representatives of museums, universities and libraries.

On December 20th during the plenary session of the conference will be launched a presentation of museum publications which came out in 2011.

The conference is accompanied by “Viva Italia!” exhibition (paintings, drawings, sculptures, arts and crafts of 16th – 20th cc. from the collection of Vrubel Regional Museum of Fine Arts of Omsk) and “Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. Famous all over the world” exhibition.
