Regions of Russia: Monument to Yaroslav the Wise to be inaugurated in Novgorod the Great in summer of 2012

The monument to Yaroslav the Wise will be raised in front of the main building of the Novgorod State University bearing the name of the grand duke. The inauguration of the monument is timed to the anniversary of the university’s foundation – June 30, 2012.

At the present, the draft of the monument is outlined. Its author is the President of the Artists’ Union of Russia, People’s Artist of Russia Andrey Kovalchuk. While creating the face of the grand duke, the master was guided by the well known reconstruction by M. M. Gerasimov.
