Society and Church: Days of Orthodox Culture kick off in Moscow

Days of Orthodox Culture are kicking off in Moscow on December 16th 2011 with a new exhibition which showcases over 300 icons spanning different epochs from private collections. This rare icon collection is on show at the Center of Fine Arts of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior until January 15th 2012.

Orthodox icons dated between 15th – 20th cc. can be viewed at the center’s 1200 square meter expo hall. The program of the Days also covers roundtable discussions concerning preservation of the Orthodox culture, workshops and lectures devoted to Russian icon, performances of folklore ensembles.

In addition there will run a charity event to collect old icons for the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and to raise the funds for restoration of the church’s icons. A special hotline will be available to address questions on the event.

Days of Orthodox Culture in Moscow is held by the Board of Trustees of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in partnership with Moscow Patriarchate and Moscow City Government with a blessing of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
