“ELAR PlanScan А2.В-Ц3Р” planetary scanner has been introduced into Tula Regional Research Library. The new equipment will be deployed to enhance the process of rendering govt services electronically and building full-text databases.

The equipment enables to digitize bound and large-format originals (up to А2) – books, catalogues, old folios, including valuable and fragile documents. The device rests upon an innovative system of LED lighting with a “moving band”. The scanner eliminates risk of damaging originals during the work and offers favorable working conditions.

At present Tula Regional Research library is one of the key information centers of the region. With the state-of-the-art equipment operating in the library the librarians will improve their activities related to shaping electronic resources, provide better access to digital copies of rare and valuable editions to patrons and preserve cultural heritage.
